The Los Angeles Chess Club is currently one of the top 10 most active chess clubs in the country and the premier chess club in the SoCal area.

Operating on the premises oClub Membership Comparisonf The Barrington Bridge Club, LACC offers a variety of classes and tournaments (with various time controls) every weekend!

The first step towards improving your chess is to attend lectures by Masters of the game (LACC has weekly lectures on various areas of the Royal Game!

HOURS

  • Saturdays 10:30 am - 10:30 pm
  • Sundays 12 - 7 pm
  • Tuesdays 7 - 10 pm

CLASSES

SATURDAY Beginner/ Novice Class * (10:30 -11:30 am)

This weekly class covers all the basic knowledge needed for conducting a game of chess such as: Basic Opening, Middle game, Endgame principles & basic tactical patterns.

  • Exclusively for LACC members – 1ST visit free.
  • Student’s performances will be evaluated each week individually!
  • Whether you are planning to be a casual or tournament player, this class gives you the tools to play a respectable Royal Game.

SUNDAY Scholastic Beginner/ Novice Class * (12:00 -1:00 Pm)

This weekly class covers all the basic knowledge needed for conducting a game of chess such as: Basic Opening, Middle game, Endgame principles & basic tactical patterns.

  • Exclusively for LACC members – 1ST visit free.
  • Student’s performances will be evaluated each week individually!
  • Whether you are planning to be a casual or tournament player, this class gives you the tools to play a respectable Royal Game.
  • Free for LACC members and/or follow up tournament players.

Tuesday Night Advanced Lecture * (7:30 - 9:30 pm)

This weekly class discusses one topic in great depth each month
(by USCF Life Senior Master Mick Bighamian).

This is an ideal class for players who are already familiar with piece movements and basic knowledge of the Opening, Middle game, and Endgame principle; although this class is open to all LACC members.

1 year of attending this class would empower you to play chess at a respectable and competitive level.

  • First session is complimentary
  • No RSVP required…just come on by!

TOURNAMENTS

Saturday G/61 (12-6 pm)

A weekly tournament exclusively for USCF members (may join USCF at site, LACC membership optional). First tournament is free for new/renewing LACC members

  • Registration: 11:30 am – 12 noon
  • 3 Rounds of Game/61
  • Rounds: 12, 2, 4
  • Entry Fee: $25 / $20 LACC members
  • Prizes: ½ Collections: Cash, Books
  • Free BOA & grocery store parking; or in building basement ($3)

Saturday Night Blitz (G/5) (6:30 – 8:30 pm)

A weekly Quick-rated tournament for USCF players (LACC membership is optional).

  • Registration: 6 – 6:30 pm
  • 5 double rounds of Game/5 minutes (10 games)
  • Rounds: 6:30, 6:50, 7:10, 7:30, 7:50 pm
  • Entry Fee: $10 for all
  • Prizes: ½ collections
  • Free BOA & grocery store parking; or in building basement ($3)

Sunday G/61 (12-6 pm)

A weekly tournament exclusively for USCF members (may join USCF at site, LACC membership optional). First tournament is free for new/renewing LACC members.

Every Sunday Chess 4 Juniors (1-6 pm)

A weekly USCF-rated tournament for USCF members only (may join USCF at site, LACC membership is optional)

  • Registration and class: 12 - 1 pm
  • 5 Rounds of Game/30
  • 3 sections: K-1, K-3, K-6
  • Rounds: 1 pm and asap
  • Entry Fee: $25 /$20 LACC members; $10 off siblings; free for new LACC members
  • Prizes: TROPHIES (top 3) and GOLD & SILVER MEDALS (rest)
  • Free BOA & street parking; or in building basement ($5)
  • Free pizza and juices provided
