A Club For The 21st Century

LACC is a non-profit organization devoted to extending the role of chess in the West Los Angeles, Malibu, Palisades, Brentwood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, and Santa Monica areas.

  • LACC promotes the study and knowledge of the game of chess, for its own sake as an art and enjoyment, as well as a means for the improvement of the society as a whole.
  • LACC informs, educates, and fosters the development of players (professionals and amateurs) and those who are merely trying to understand and improve their knowledge of the Royal Game.
  • LACC encourages the development of a network of institutions devoted to enhancing the growth of chess in West Los Angeles area schools.

It is the long-term goal of the Los Angeles Chess Club to transform it to THE premier club in the country. We are devoted to extending the role of chess in the West Los Angeles, Malibu, Palisades, Brentwood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, and Santa Monica areas. We also welcome players from all other LA and Orange County areas.

  • To transform the LA Chess Club to a nationally-renowned Chess Club offering a well-managed infrastructure; which serves professional and amateur players alike with integrity and respect.
  • To have open communication with all clubs, players, sponsors and advertisers.
  • To raise the stature of chess in Southern California as a starting point.

To provide a premier service in educating the Southern Californians in learning how to conduct a game of chess at novice as well as competitive level. To this end, we strive:

  • To secure financial support on a medium and long term basis with commercial sponsors.
  • To achieve consistent, long-term success in the game through player development at every level, and empowering interested individuals through multiple-level lectures, playing in tournaments, chess in schools and the regional development of chess through exhibitions at local museums, parks, entertainment centers, etc.
  • To provide ongoing organized chess tournaments as a venue for competitive-minded Club Members.
  • To promote increased knowledge and understanding of the game of chess for its own sake as an art and as an intellectual sport. Through its Club library of instructional books, videos, and chess publications, and its special seminars with chess champions of major national and internationally-renowned players and lecturers.
  • The Los Angeles Chess Club seeks to foster the development of its Members as chess players and enhance their appreciation of ‘The Royal Game’.
  • Membership in The Los Angeles Chess Club is open to all individuals with an interest in the game - regardless of their experience, age, gender, and strength.
